JEFF BEZOS: WORKOUT AND HEALTH HABITS

THIS IS NOT ABOUT JEFF’S WEALTH OR HIS SPACEFLIGHTS

Jeff Bezos will be 58 years of age on this upcoming January 12, 2022. He is a graduate of Princeton University, with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Jeff is the chairman and founder of Amazon. He also owns the Washington Post, Blue Origins (his spaceflight company) and Whole Foods.

Jeff is 5’8″ tall and weighs 165 pounds. I was not familiar with anything about his physical appearance, other than that he had shaved his head. I will concede that I took a quick glance at his current girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez. In a recent picture, I noticed that Jeff had bulked up considerably in his upper body – chest, shoulders, back and arms.

He had made a remarkable physical transformation, not unlike the way he has transformed Amazon from a small bookseller into the dominant force that it is today.

I have written several articles about celebrities who had the advantages of financial wherewithal to hire personal trainers. Or maybe they could more easily purchase workout equipment. Jeff Bezos would be the ultimate example of such a privilege. Still, these people had to do the work themselves. Fame and fortune do not equate to easy fitness results. Take a look sometime at all the obese or otherwise poor shapes of many notable and wealthy people. As for Jeff Bezos, his success as a businessman did not come easy either. He became accustomed to working hard to produce results.

JEFF’S WORKOUT ROUTINE

Jeff warms up before his workout and also cools off and stretches at the end. He alternates lower body with upper body for 6 days and then rests on the seventh day. It is a tough workout. Here it is:

JEFF’S HEALTH HABITS

There is not a lot of information on the eating plan of Jeff Bezos, other than the strong suggestion that he must consume lots of protein to maintain his muscles. He has been known to eat a breakfast of Mediterranean octopus. He also likes poached eggs, potatoes and garlic yogurt.

Jeff even once had roasted iguana at a dinner meeting.

He goes to bed early and wakes up naturally, without an alarm clock and usually around 3:45 AM. He relishes his morning time by “puttering around” before leaving for work. This is a time for reading newspapers and engaging with his children.

After he gets to work, he usually makes no important decisions or has any meetings except between 10:00 AM and 12 noon. This is when he is mentally the sharpest. At 5:00 PM, he defers everything to the next morning.

Jeff values sleep so much that he often takes a sleeping bag to work during his most critical times.

CONCLUDING

Jeff Bezos epitomizes the successful entrepreneur and does so with grace and charm. He sometimes uses unconventional methods to stay healthy and productive. He believes in delegating authority. Jeff doesn’t like large meetings and even has a “two pizza rule” for his meetings – the size must be limited to only a group of people who can be happy with a buffet of two pizzas.

His workout routine is tough and challenging. Note the precise planning that it shows.

His business habits – lingering mornings, conducting business only when he is mentally focused, not making decisions after 5:00 PM – are being carefully studied by chief executives. His emphasis on sleep, even to the point of taking a sleeping bag to work, has also created lots of attention.
