HERE ARE SOME DETAILS
Presidents Day is a federal holiday, celebrated each year in mid-February to honor past U.S. presidents. The holiday is observed each year on the third Monday of February. This year, Presidents Day falls on Monday, February 17.
This was (not now) the first federal holiday of the year. It was initially known as Washington’s birthday, to honor George Washington, our first president. Washington was born on February 11, 1731. But in 1752, Great Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar, which moved the birthday to February 22, 1732.
Later, the holiday began to include Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday was on February 12. In 1971, the holiday was changed to the third Monday in February and was named Presidents Day.
The U.S. Postal Service, banks, the stock market and most schools will be closed on Presidents Day. Retail stores and grocery stores will generally be open. Federal holidays are observed by federal employees, who will have the day off. I remember being surprised that I had George Washington’s birthday off (before the name was changed) in the army.
The holiday is Presidents Day, not President’s Day. It honors Washington and Lincoln, not all presidents. Like most holidays, it is celebrated on Monday to create a long weekend .
AMAZON
Presidents Day has become known as a good time to purchase mattresss, household appliances, furniture and tech items.
It is also a huge sales day for Amazon, with markdowns across nearly every category.
My association with Amazon is that of an affiliate, meaning that I can use their links within my articles to tie in with the subject matter. I may earn from activity on the links, which is the essence of affiliate marketing. See my upper menu – BECOME AN AFFILIATE MARKETER – for complete information on this process and an invitation to consider the business opportunity.
Also, affiliate marketing includes the option to list sale items during special holidays. For example, I recently did an article on Valentine’s Day, which attracted lots of attention.
To stay close to my niche of fitness and workouts, my links today will be centered around sports, outdoor and fitness items on sale. Each link will show descriptions, prices and suggestions for other similar or related options.
