INDEPENDENCE DAY IN THE U.S.

HISTORY AND TRADITIONS

The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress of the United States on July 4, 1776. The document was primarily drafted by Thomas Jefferson. The thirteen colonies were thus declared independent from Great Britain. Fundamental rights were asserted – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The declaration came after years of growing tension and conflict between the colonies and Great Britain, culminating in the American Revolutionary War. The day is typically celebrated with fireworks, parades, barbecues and other festivites that reflect national pride and patriotism. It became a federal holiday in 1941.

Most Americans are quite familiar with the 4th of July and its meaning. I live in a townhome community. A flag is placed at the end of our driveways every year a few days before the holiday.

This post will be relatively very short. I will cover affiliate marketing in general, then provide information on special 4th of July discount categories being offered by Dick’s Sporting Goods, my favorite store.

AFFILIATE MARKETING

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing strategy where a business rewards affiliates for each customer brought to the business through the affiliate’s marketing efforts. In summary, affiliates promote a company’s product or services and thereby earn a commission on sales, leads or clicks.

It fits my needs since I enjoy writing and understand the values of fitness and sports through personal experience. I sit at home and write when I am inspired.

Please see in my upper menu – BECOME AN AFFILIATE MARKETER – for essential information on this business opportunity.

Also, the diagram below will illustrate this process in very simple terms.

DICK’S SPORTING GOODS (DSG)

My favorite store was founded by Richard Stack in 1948. It was initially a small bait and tackle store in Binghamton, New York. Gradually, the company expanded and became a major sporting goods retailer, now the largest, with over 800 stores.

DSG has been involved in various philanthropic efforts to benefit youth sports and athletes. They have pledged over $170 million for these initiatives.

See my very recent post on “WHY SHOULD WE SHOP AT DICK’S SPORTING GOOD?”

I keep a permanent link to Dick’s Sporting Goods at the side of my website. It is continually updated with information on new equipment arrivals, specials and general information.

Here are a few of the Independence Day discount categories presently being offerd by DSG:

Up to 40% off select shoes – by Nike, Adidas, HOKA, Brooks and others

25 % off select Stanley 1913 drinkware – plus other drinkware deals

Up to 60% off select swimwear and accessories – by REEF, CALIA, Bogg, Igloo, Hurley and others

Up to $200 off select golf clubs – plus BOGO 50% on Walter Hagen clothing

The Dick’s Sporting Goods link at the side of my website is easy to use:

  • Click on the red link
  • You will see the question “What are you looking for?”
  • Proceed from there, based on your interests
  • Be aware of the specials

FINAL THOUGHTS

I have been a customer of Dick’s Sporting Goods for over 4 decades. I would enter one of the stores and spend hours looking around, not even being aware of discounts, but knowing their shoes and sports equipment were the best to be found.

Their Online service suits me better now, since I can quickly see what is new and what is on sale.

Happy Fourth of July to all those celebrating the holiday!

Richard
