I have been a customer of Dick’s Sporting Goods for decades. My interest was initially for tennis equipment – racquets, shoes, balls and accesssories. Later, I played golf and went to Dick’s for complete sets, bags, shoes and individual clubs, especially putters. I also liked the workout equipment I found, as well as the sportswear.
My preference was to visit one of the stores and browse, sometimes for more than an hour. The service was good and the inventory was wide. I was not aware of discounts on items and had no quarrel with the pricing.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is a successful sporting goods merchant, well known by pro athletes, amateurs, weekend sportsmen/women and beginners.
The company has a history of charitable work, including the following:
- The “Sports Matter Program”, which provides grants, equipment and scholarships to youth programs in underserved communities. This program has committed over $100 million and helped over 2 million youngsters play sports.
- Dick’s Sporting Goods has awarded over half a million dollars to grantees that focus on preserving public lands
- The Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation supports community resource centers like Tiger’s Den, which provides free laundry, Wi-Fi, showers, food and clothing for students and families.
- The foundation also partners with schools to provide free summer camps for youngsters
